I really love 2001 too and had the same experience as Woody had. I think the only film I've watched from Woody Allen was Annie Hall, which I didn't like at all. Did I miss anything? Any other movies of him I should watch?

THIS LIST BELOW IS COMPLETLY SUBJECTIVE, FOLKS!

Ok. Since you didn't like Annie Hall, I'm going to try to suggest some of his movies which, I feel, steer away from that style. Woody is know for both his comedies and his dramas, but they do no always, as in Annie Hall, intermingle. Also, I'm restricting myself to the one I've watched.

The better comedies:

  Take the Money and Run
  Love and Death
  Zelig
The better dramas:

  Interiors
  Crimes and Misdemeanors
  Husbands and Wives
So-so:

Everyone Says I Love You (a musical, Allen's only one)
  Bullets Over Broadway
  Deconstructing Harry
  Match Point
More bad than good, but not BAD-bad:

  Stardust Memories
  Celebrity
The lazy ones:

  Manhattan Murder Mystery
  Mighty Aphrodite
  Small Time Crooks
  Scoop
  Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Stay away from:

  Manhattan
  The Purple Rose of Cairo
  Hannah and Her Sisters
  Shadows and Fog
  Sweet and Lowdown
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion
  Melinda and Melinda
  Anything Else
  Whatever Works
Woody's a very unbalanced director. He doesn't always gets it right most of the time (some would argue half the time), but he has good stuff in his catalogue. Hope that helps. ;)

Sweet and Lowdown? -I loved that film. After watching it I spent weeks watching the trains and shooting rats. Seriously though, I liked it and thought Sean Penn did a great job.

I didn't like mostly for nitpcking, I admit: I was annoyed by Penn's god-awful fake-playing. Indeed, maybe it's a good movie.

It was pretty aweful playing, wasn't it. You would have thought his brother would have tutored him.
