    and a comedy podcast.

Any advice on an entry-level mic for that kind of stuff?

If you don't want the full setup with the mixer, recorder and all that other equipment, a good USB mic is the Blue Yeti. The Audio-Technica AT2020 is it's direct competitor, so pick whichever. Both around 100-150$.

Not a bad guide for the basic technical stuff involved of a beginner podcast setup: http://blog.extra-paycheck.com/podcast-guide

Thanks!

Blue Yeti is 12k RUB; AT2020 is 7.5k. It's going to be a while before I even dare enter the podcast business: tutor job ain't promising to pay too well.

Any of your friends want to learn Russian from a native, by the way? I'm taking students for Skype lessons.

the snowball is like 30-40 USD it sounds as good as the Yeti imo. As in more than fine for youtube vids and podcasts

Thanks. It's still 8k RUB (~$125) locally and Amazon doesn't ship it internationally even for $60, but I'll keep that in mind.

I'm sure you could convince someone here to ship you one. Also eBay does ship international so try that

I will try eBay. I don't want to trouble anyone with sending it: too much work for the little old me.

Looks like shipping US to Russia is 40-60 dollars. Maybe someone in Europe can get it to you for cheaper

Honestly, haven't heard much interest about learning russian from anyone lately, sorry :( But with the internet, I'm sure you'll find some people!
