NASA cut all funding for education and public outreach on my mission about a year ago, and I'm sure DJ Trump can fuck shit up quite a bit better than that. Edit: not "my" mission, just the project I work on. This administration is going to unintentionally bring the country together before this is all over, mark my words.
We do not get any government grants as they are too unpredictable and come with too much baggage. The City is going to give us some money for a program this summer, however. We have clearly defined targets and responsibilities so that works for us. For a small group of volunteer people with day jobs, you gotta be very wary of depending on government money for outreach etc.
