A lot of people are a combination of so many conflicting and often unpleasant emotions right now. They're seeking information to feel validated, reassured, and even righteously angry. When they find it, they're wallowing in it and then passing it on to others who they think will feel the same, thereby perpetuating feeling validated, reassured, and righteously angry. It's hard to blame them, because all three emotions can be extremely addictive, nearly cathartic.
You are allowed to feel worried, uncertain, upset, even frustrated with your peers. It's still important to try your best to be open, honest, and fair with them.
Maybe get off Reddit and Facebook for a bit. Cut back on political discussions. Sometimes the best way of combating feeling overwhelmed is to just walk away. Don't be an ostrich with your head in the sand, but maybe focusore on things that are important to you as an individual. At the same time, don't worry too much about trying to actively keep yourself informed. The really big stuff, the ground shaking stuff, will still find its way to you, and by the time it does, a lot of the sensation and feelings of urgency that would have otherwise accompany this information will be diluted somewhat with the time it took between happening and actually reaching your ears.
If you can't do any of that, that's okay, you're not alone. It's hard for a lot of people right now. Just try your best to stay strong and keep being awesome.
