I just learned how to crochet! I made this hat:

It has some mistakes, but it still looks cool for the first try! I've also made a cactus and am making this octopus right now:

What do you crochet? I need inspiration for the next project, most things I find online seem a little too grandmotherly.

Yep. Ravelry.com is amazing. You can find patterns for pretty much everything there. I'll show you my crocheted cactus if you show me yours, elizabeth!

I follow a few blogs as well, mainly Moogly and Cre8tioncrochet.com Crochet.

Edit: it's ok to have mistakes in your work. I call them 'proof of being handmade.' The best part of messing up in crochet as opposed to knitting is that frogging is much easier.

I still need to find it a pot to live in, so it can hang out with my real plants. I started out with a pattern from ravelry but the pattern got weird so I winged part of it. The flower from the pattern was just a flat five-petaled thing that I thought I could improve on so I used the 'wiggle crochet' technique to make what I think looks a bit more like a flower that belongs on a cactus. Glad you like it!
