Just watched a little and didn't really get it. Is this satire? What's the joke? I don't even see how it is alt-right honestly, look like some "edgy" MTV show from the 2000.

Sam Hyde is a try-hard that wants to be a real live 4Chan thread. Unfortunately for Sam he lacks the culture, brains, wit, charm and charisma. Honestly shocked that someone thought that he was worth a show directed at 'normies.'

Sometimes when watching the show, I felt as though they were speaking to certain Internet forums instead of speaking to a general audience with their comedy. I always felt like I had to be in some sort of inside joke in order to laugh.

Hyde’s comedy style could be compared to Tom Green in that it’s over-the-top offensive, borderline-cringe male humor that makes teen boys snort and giggle. His troupe, Million Dollar Extreme describes itself as “misandrous comedioterrorists” and besides the “Sam Hyde As Shooter” meme, the troupe’s main claim to fame is terrorizing game developer Brianna Wu with various videos involving guns, knives, and death threats. Hyde’s humor finding an audience could be attributed as a backlash to feminist ideals, or “PC culture run amok,” becoming more mainstream — like the rise of MRAs online, for example.

When I first saw his name being thrown about it was on 4chan about what an idiot he is. The long and short of it is that there is a whole class of people who make a living poking the bear. That bear may be 4chan, or Tumblr, or Twitter, or hell even Organized Religion. The reality is that if you are an "offend-a-tron" you can generate interest, use that interest to generate an audience, then milk that audience for a while until a better "offend-a-tron" pops up and makes you irrelevant. There are a few atheists, many Christians, a bunch of feminists and of course the anti-feminists who all follow this business model.

The moral of the story, and rule number freaking one for the internet age, is DO NOT FEEL THE TROLLS. Guys like this are low poly-count bait that anyone who has been online for more than a month or two should be able to see a mile away, yet people keep falling for their schtick.

Yea I didn't really see too much of the alt-right element within the show either. There really isn't a preaching of political beliefs within the show. I was more confused by the whole thing. How is this supposed to be funny and why do people think this was funny?

If one sits and watches Adult Swim non-stop, one sees a preponderance of unfunny material. They have their moments - but when ATHF and Metalocalypse are your gold standards, the silvers, bronzes and tins suffer proportionally.

I've only watched Rick and Morty and the Boondocks from AS and found them both pretty good. I guess I had higher expectations from them. It's not only that I didn't find it funny, I didn't even understand what the joke was.

I guess the whole show's the joke. HA.

Rick and Morty is Dan Harmon slummin' it while Boondocks was an adaptation of a long-running (and brilliant) comic strip. They're far more about shit like Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law.

For some odd reason, Adult Swim really like anti-comedy and continues to go with it after so many years. On one hand, it's not really funny but on the other hand, it's give different types of people to present their style of humor over the conventional comedy sitcom.
