Hubski, is it selfish to feel frustrated because you're spending all your time doing things that help other people and therefore are accomplishing nothing that you need to do for yourself?

Yes - and you should feel that way because you have a self to take care of. Don't set yourself on fire to keep other people warm. Helping others must be strictly because you want to. Otherwise, you just let others lead you by your nose - and that's entirely too much power given to those people.

That's very true, and part of the problem--a lot of the work I've been doing has been at the behest of people who do have a lot of power over me.

There's nothing wrong with politely refusing. You are, after all, a person of your own, and it's understandable that you would want to spend time on yourself.

Heh. Must have posted right as I was editting. In any case, it sounds as if we're speaking the same language. ;p

You make some good points that I've glanced over.
