They reference the remake of Red Dawn and how the film company changed it to North Korean as the bad guys instead of China to appease the market. I wrote about this years ago on Hubski and it was in this post that I realized that this mysterious fella, kleinbl00 was someone worth knowing/following. Edit: You'll note that his comment is badged. I went back, years later after we invented badges (yes, they preceded gilding) and added it. That's how much I loved his comment.
That was a good write up. edit: Are you /u/spez now abusing your special powers to engage in historical revisionism?? Admin abooooose! That's just what China would want you to do. :)
Mentioned in the vid is the world's largest cinema chain operator: China's Wanda Group. They own AMC which accounts for 13% of American screens as well as other US entertainment businesses. Their chairman recently warned against a possible growth of protectionism by the US and said that he spoke to MPAA chairman Chris Dodd asking him to pass on a message to President-elect Trump. “I’ve invested $10 billion in the U.S. employing over 20,000 people. If something goes wrong these 20,000 people might be out of jobs”. Complete bullshit but saying something so out-there shows that the Chinese government/business knows that the entertainment industry is a pressure point for the US government/business and the MPAA has a very large lobbying presence. The American film industry has undoubtedly been a source of "propaganda" throughout the decades which seems to be changing in the face of the chase for international dollars.
