My state my be located deep in the south, but god damn if we're not the least insane state down here.
AMC Networks, which films its hit show The Walking Dead in the state, had also called for a veto. When you're trying to grow your state's economy by attracting television and film production, if a company such as Disney says "Hey, we don't like this bill. Stop it." you're gonna have to listen. The governer made the right choice, even if he didn't make it for the right reasons.Disney and its Marvel subsidiary had threatened to boycott the state, and a range of companies including Apple, Dell and Time Warner had urged the governor to veto the legislation.
Welp - some hate legislation killed the film business in Colorado in the 90s http://www.nytimes.com/1992/12/21/opinion/the-case-for-the-colorado-boycott.html Hopefully Georgia doesn't shoot themselves like Colorado did. The local film economy still hasn't recovered. (And don't get me wrong - keeping economies going is the wrong reason to make the right choice - this is just an observation)
