I learned through the grapevine that a friend of mine used to hang out with this guy in high school. He writes jokes for NBC now, I think, which may seem like a depressing waste (because it is) but I think it's actually the pinnacle of the profession, job-wise.
Apparently it's one of the guys from Gilmore Guys podcast, which is a great podcast. Please don't disparage NBC writers some of us are striving to be sitcom writers :(I learned through the grapevine that a friend of mine used to hang out with this guy in high school. I disagree! The way an actor delivers a line can change the whole context of it! I've written some sketch comedy for a local theater sometimes, the actors add so much you weren't even thinking about when writing it. It's a great process, but you really have to be open to changing!I think it's a shame you don't get to keep the jokes for yourself, but have to put them in <whomever's> mouth.
