I bought a Chromecast recently but I'm not finding any use for it, really. We already use a Smart tv as both computer monitor and as a tv, so I guess I've already solved the problem it's meant to address. I suppose now it's a little easier to view videos I recorded with my phone on the tv.

Found the problem.

Okay, I'll bite. Why do you reckon that's a problem?

Sorry. Didn't mean to be snarky. My point was that if you already have a smart TV, a Chromecast will feel decidedly supernumerary.

I'll say this: I've got a half-dozen ways to get Netflix onto the projector, and the Chromecast wins. Android, iPhone, iPad, doesn't matter. Same with Plex. However, if you're used to using the remote that came with the TV, and the TV speaks Netflix natively, the TV wins.

Excellent! I was looking into it, says that it uses streaming services and anything from chrome. Do you know if it also just plays video files I have on my computer?

You'll need some form of player that will hit the chromecast.

Chrome (the browser) works.
