I am surprised there are others on Hubski into Chon! Despite being so young, they have a style that really stands out. For guitar instrumental music there isn't really that much "new" music, but Chon stands out. Love this song, and I didn't know they made a music video for it. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! I'm a huge fan of a lot of the instrumental bands/projects in the scene: Chon, Animals as Leaders, Pomegranate Tiger, Plini, Sithu Aye, etc. I think that a lot of these guys are absolutely incredible song writers and the melodic style and progressive structures are better at evoking emotions in the listener than a lot of singers. What I think makes Chon different is that the guitarists use 0 effects and play with a straight clean tone (aside from their first demo). They write such provocative music that it doesn't even need any effects. The drummer and bassist are also absolutely KILLER at their instruments, and no matter what people say, the songs with vocals are just as good as their instrumental songs. I think the first video I saw of them was them as preteens playing Dream Theater covers. From what I understand, they needed a drummer so one of the guitarists made his brother learn.
