You also don't want to train lions to eat people. Polar Bears on the other hand... I think that vocal climate change deniers, should be told that they get to go to space. Then be put on planes to go to "training". Drop them fuckers of on a melting ice shelf to feed the bears. They are starving. The north pole is much more habitable than space. There are even interesting "aliens " after them. Happily ever after for everyone else.
I never agreed with trophy hunting it seemed pointless to me, but I can understand the purpose of lawful hunting. We have over time destroyed the food chain, and now we have to make sure it doesn't break further. If the wrong species goes extinct because of another invasive predator we could go extinct in the process. What I don't get is why does it seem like the trophy hunting is happening to endangered animals? Does that ever stop happening because of humans need for shiny things at any cost?
According to the article, "counterproductive individuals" are the intended targets of properly regulated legal hunting. Which I would assume means, for example, a sterile adult who is taking a place in a pride which would be far better served by a non-sterile adult. Trophy killing a opposed to custodians (or whatever they're called) euthanizing the animal effectively just adds a fundraising component. Conservation isn't cheap.
