Sonnet 42
-
If all would hear the music of Your soul
The world would laugh and cry and scream and smile,
The vocal-centric genre-bending whole
Contenting some but fright’ning all the while
And giving billions hope and joy and love
All mixed with fright and pain and worried notes --
The bass harmonious with clefs above;
At times the music falls, at times it floats --
And if the world could hear that precious tune,
That epic made of all Your smiles and tears,
The world would wake to listen to this boon
And e’en the deaf and dead would learn to hear.
You think you’ve never shared this song I’ve said
But in good truth, it’s stuck inside my head.
