I think those are really cool. They're very surreal. It's crazy to think, but maybe in another five years or so, we'll have computers generating everything from visual art to music. I know they're already working on programs that write news articles and essays with varying degrees of success. That said, I hope we never reach a point where we let computers displace legitimate, human art.
I've always figured that there was something that would prevent machines from ever being capable of art. Even here, it seems like they needed some sort of input to generate the images (I couldn't view the full article). I guess that I had thought it was creativity that would keep art human, but here machines are showing basic creativity I would say in changing the inputs. But, I think innovation will stay human. I doubt machines will be able to make the leaps in logic and the more emotional connections that produce new art forms. Of course, it could just be a matter of time.
