A friend of mine texted me this: at the RNC in 2009 she told Michael Steele "You be da man" after his speech. I was positive he was joking. He was not.

Nothing funnier than The GOP attempting to be hip. That would have been hilarious in such a sad way.

I'm not even sure this was an attempt (by the GOP) to be hip; I have a strong suspicion that she wouldn't have said this if the speaker were white. Either way I love the image of Bachmann saying this and everyone else at the convention shaking their heads in disappointment while Steele just looks at her like this.
