Eh. Computer crime laws have not had a good history of getting sane judicial review. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK has to compete with ZOMG HACKERS ARE SCARY and I AM 60 YEARS OLD AND WHAT IS THIS. The EFF taking an interest does mean he will probably have good lawyers.
I won't argue with that. At the same time, if you're 60 now, you were 45 when pets.com was a thing and chances are good your parents experimented at least a little with computers before they died because they were so fucking lonely. We're starting to get to the point where "I don't use computers" is beyond anomalous, it's aberrant.
