- Even if only a tiny fraction could, in principle, sustain life, and only a tiny fraction of those actually do, that should still leave an awful lot of neighbours. Some of them would surely have called on man by now.
IMHO our current situation clouds our vision far too much on these matters. If we pick up an EM signal, it's probably from the equivalent of an alien goofing around with some archiac stuff in its garage. I would guess that the power of preferred interstellar communication doesn't drop off at the inverse square of the distance.
This could be the case or perhaps the universe is a little zoo made for the amusement of an ET child we call "God".
or i am talking rubbish :-) just my thought on it. Also the way i see it is it is a bad idea to think there is intelligent life out there we should all and i mean everyone on the planet be working towards getting off earth instead of consuming products and getting fat. But until our environment is threatened enough this will not happen.
