I guess I'm in a phase for this genre as I'm revisiting Radiohead for the first time in a while and it seems like a modern progression down rh's road. Tycho is great, you should check out Mount Kimbie.

If you're looking for Radioheadesque music and don't already know Suuns then you totally should. I think they were on a weekly music thread a little while ago. Images Du Future is a good album to start with.

Also, I hope you're aware of Robert Glasper Experiment.

nowaypablo, I've already got some Mount Kimbie in my music library, that's also some great stuff.

RGE is freaking killer, one of the more interesting musical findings I've mad as of late.

Ah man, that's bleak! I saw them live in April, once again in Manchester. One of my favourite acts of the last few years. Check out their debut album 'Black Radio'. It's full of gems like that and this. It won a grammy for best RnB album I believe.

aw this is tremendous stuff, I've been so detached from the modern jazz scene for ages, i feel ashamed now :D Thing is my favorite pianist and general idol is Armenian jazz genius [Tigran Hamasyan] but he gained traction with solo works like that, and after exploding in France he got more in tune with some crazy shit, and diversifying. He's 100% of the influence of my actual piano playing which translates into my taste in jazz, which is great and all but I get left behind with new stuff hehe.

Pardon the rant but rarely do people really get into this guy, if you do I'll spam you to death with links so pretend you dont just in case.

I can't say I was much drawn to the first link, but the second one has some real nice stuff in it. I'll definitely have to explore his work. Generally in the music I listen to, whatever genre, I'm always looking to find a real nice groove and chord progression to sink into. A bit of ambience. For the most part I'm not really into that kind of Jazz that just constantly flies all over the place and never settles into anything. I just can't get a grip on it. But yeah, some nice stuff in that live performance.

Allow my to hail some more contemporary Jazzy sound suggestions you may like:

Tommaso Cappellato & Astral Travel - Consciousness

Nik Bartsch's Ronin - Modul 48

Richard Spaven - Maz

aw yiss. this is wicked man, I'm gonna go through these all and get back to you. The RGExperiment was enough of a revelation for the night but I guess I wasn't planning on sleeping anyway. Bless this site.

p.s granted your and the others' generally awesome taste in music I hope you have some experience with vinyls, cause I'm making a post tomorrow re. the most essential vinyls for me to start my collection off of. I'll let you know by tag or smtg when i make it. It'd have to be really no more than 5 records, or at a stretch $100 worth if that.

I'm afraid I am no aficionado when it comes to vinyl. I own precisely 0.
