A friend of mine is in school to become a court room reporter and has to use a keyboard to the same effect. It looks like a new age manual type writer with less keys. It's all phonetic and different keys can be pressed simultaneously or individually to produce a script that's difficult to understand without speaking it aloud. It's not what the article's about, but it made me think of her. Interesting read regardless, I had never heard of this before.

Fascinating stuff. Anyone know if there's a how-to online? I'd dig this for taking notes in class. Edit: Found one: http://gregg.angelfishy.net/index.shtml don't know how good it is. will investigate.
