Right now it seems like these investment groups are buying up the land and renting a lot of it to Farmers, no speculation necessary. Farming in and of itself doesn't make very much money, and I don't see that system changing with some investment groups buying up the land, which has become the most expensive part of the operation for an average farmer. The more worrying thing to me is that we're at a point where vast chunks of land are being bought by a small group of people.
