Includes my favorite albums, songs, EPs, and shows. Not as flashy as ButterflyEffect's but I'm proud of it.
Screw being flashy! Your list has well, more lists and more rankings than mine which is great. We have a very, very similar taste in music. Some of these nearly made my list (Into It. Over It, Los Campesinos, Joanna Gruesome), and overall these all very solid. However, I am shocked, shocked, to see a Grouplove song that high up on your favorite sogns list.
Thank you! I usually do favorite videos too, I might now that I finally have a regular internet connection and can watch/review some. I'm as shocked as you are by the Grouplove song as you are. I initially heard it and found it catchy, but I do that a lot with more mainstream pop songs. Usually I end up hating these songs after a few listens but this one stuck with me, and I really do think it's a fantastic song. Overall I do have a bit of weakness for some pop artists. An example would be some Kesha songs (Die Young, Your Love Is My Drug), a few T-Swift songs and of course Paramore, who I really think made the best pop album this year.
Fuck, add the Tame Impala EP and the new Los Camp to things I need to listen to before December 31st. Thanks, BrainBurner. Thank you. Fucker. Also, where did you see Ed Sharpe? Also also, I think it's amazing that my three favorite Random Access Memories songs didn't overlap with your two favorites. Can't believe you didn't even mention RAM in your list.
No problem! Absolutely check out those artists you mentioned, Los Camp are my favorite band and I don't think they've disappointed yet. And the remixes are what make that Tame Impala EP. I saw Edward Sharpe in Buffalo, on the waterfront. I also saw them two years ago, they always put on a fantastic show. Can't say I liked the album they released this year but I thought 2012's Here was a great album. Honestly I just couldn't get into RAM. I feel I'll appreciate it more down the road, maybe when I invest some more time in it. I just felt there was a lack of "pop" moments on it, besides Get Lucky, LYTD, and Doin' It Right. Those moments are why I love listening to them, and since it lacked those overall I didn't enjoy RAM all that much this year.
That's accurate, yeah. Instant Crush was my song of the year, though.Honestly I just couldn't get into RAM. I feel I'll appreciate it more down the road, maybe when I invest some more time in it.
