This industry's incentive is, by definition, at odds with the liberty of our citizens. It's disgusting that we would incent incarceration. Sure, kickbacks to judges are illegal and wrong. But why use such a blunt instrument when you can instead lobby lawmakers to make more of our everyday behavior criminal? Oh wait. They do that too...
