There are a lot of things poets have to worry about these days, but selling out isn’t one of them. Poetry is so marginal (at least economically) that there’s probably more money in needlepoint, thanks to Etsy. A poet’s working life is one of scrapping and scraping to get by, while scavenging free moments in the day to inscribe a tiny number of words onto the page.
