_refugee_ drew my attention to this NYTimes article through his blog post. He asks

What would you risk to write? Do you think you would still write if doing so could result in your being beaten or executed?

The article is a painful reminder of the wonderful privilege we have of being free to write. I think if I were a self-aware, thinking person as the Afghani women in this article are, I would have to find a way to write, to communicate. I read the NYT article fearing that just by having that article printed, they might be punished.
