You know what animal makes a good pet? No animal.

Dogs will bite you to death and then eat your corpse. Snakes will asphyxiate you, escape, infest the Everglades, and eat all its mammals. Pet parrots perpetuate a trade that upends ecosystems, and hamsters pass you dangerous zoonotic diseases. But perhaps the worst pet of all, environmentally speaking, is a cat.

Humans are worse than cats for the environment. Should we disallow humans from breeding? Not such a bad idea for many people.

I'm a cat lover to the core, but advocating for sterilizing your cat is just plain common sense. Cat breeding is a sin, as there are so many unwanted cats out there to be adopted. But I suppose its not really that big of a problem, given that something like only 3% of cats are actually bred.

A headline like "cats are evil" is destructive, besides being plain nonsense. Nature knows no evil; a cat kills, because it's their nature to kill. Its up to pet owners to be responsible, and maybe to the government to start an aggressive feral cat sterilization program. Don't blame a cat for being a cat; they're one of evolution's wonder creatures; its just difficult to see that because they're so common, a testament to their supreme adaptation.
