The House should vote to impeach relatively soon, and then if the Senate acquits, they should just keep adding charges after beginning another impeachment inquiry into one (or several) of the veritable cornucopia of possibilities. Trump's tax returns might turn up another round of offenses within a few weeks or months. I guess the argument against is that it cheapens the potency of impeachment? In the meantime, any important bipartisan laws can be passed, but there's not much point to attempt passing anything remotely progressive, since McConnell's got his self-described "legislative graveyard". Edit: Along came a perfect example of bipartisan legislation: Senators Lindsey Graham and Chris Van Hollen introduce plan for sanctions against Turkey
No one associated with the Ukraine area of the impeachment inquiry has defied a subpoena yet, so they can't be held in contempt of Congress. It's coming, though.
