A happy little anecdote.
We have lizards in our yard that I absolutely treasure and adore. They're such amazing little guys and I look forward to seeing them whenever I'm outside. They only started showing up about a year after our neighbor stop letting their cats out.
Frustrated kitties leave home for a couple of hours, for hunting reasons, just to come back again cutest than ever for their owners, of course. It's like you don't give your precious cat her favorite yummy wet food and the next thing you know she's out the door cursing and yelling, getting ready for a kill (poor little innocent birdies).
