What have we learned about the cosmos over the past 60 years?

I love stuff like this. In 1995 I bought my dad a super-cheap coffee table book on The Soviet Manned Space Program. It was full of photos, sketches and speculation. Reading it in 2012 with Wikipedia open was awesome - all the questions got answered, man. Likewise, 1987's Deep Black about the NRO before the NRO officially existed. Burrows interviews Hans Mark at length, then considered an "expert" on space reconnaissance... while they're both clearly wink wink nudge nudging about the fact that he was the head of the NRO at the time. It's great looking up all these launches and satellites and opening Wikipedia and going "OH that's what it was!"
