I don't really get what people like this author expect anyone to do about gentrification. The way it's framed, gentrification is the process by which economic success increases the cost of living and lowers crime, which in turn displaces people who could only afford to live there due to the high murder rate and few job opportunities. The real issue here is that so many people don't make enough money to afford to live anywhere except in places with high crime, and that economic and social inequality prevents those people from benefiting when the local economy does improve.
