The triumvirate of shit on the internet is Tumbr, Fucking Twitter, and Reddit. If each of those three sites were nuked from orbit the world would be a better place. I don't go on the Internet much anymore because I do not want the guilt by association of what "internet culture" has become: warring tribes of neo-religious morons screaming at each other over the trolls and adverts.

You cannot "detoxify" reddit because its toxicity is the whole point of the site... sucker people in with outrage, capture that audience and pump ads at them until the IPO.
