When Boeing wants to launch a new aircraft, shareholders foot the bill. When Airbus wants to launch a new aircraft, the taxpayers of England, Germany and France foot the bill. When Boeing underperforms, shareholders eat shit. When Airbus underperforms, the taxpayers of England, Germany and France eat shit. The money available to Boeing is based on market performance. The money available to Airbus is based on whatever they can beg for.

Yesterday the US dept of Commerce decided that Canadian Bombardier aircraft should cost 300% more than they actually cost because the Canadian government threw $3 billion at them to develop a new jet to compete against Boeing and Airbus. Embraer is into it despite the fact that they've been plenty shady in the past, too. And now May and Trudeau are all fuckin' waaah.

Airbus has owed $22 billion to Boeing since 2010.
