This is the first time that they have used the titanium grid fins. I could have sworn that they flew before; it turns out that after they realized the aluminum fins need to be swapped out post launch they went titanium. I must have read that they were testing them, not using them.

Both landings were considered "marginal chance of success" by the people at SpaceX.
