Wotofo has just released their newest flagship box and that is the Chieftain 80W TC box mod. I personally don’t know that much about Wotofo’s mods but I have used their RDAs and RTAs like the Troll version two which I still have and the Serpent Mini tank. This little guy features a wide range of technology and is completely customizable to suit your vaping needs.
Wotofo Chieftain 80W TC Mod Box is made from Aluminum Alloy and is powered by a single 26650 battery or 18650 battery. It comes with an adapter for the 18650. It measures at 92.5 x 43.5 x 28.5 mm and can accommodate most of the atomizers in the market with its 510 gold plated and spring loaded connection. It offers four different modes to choose from; there is your regular Variable Wattage Mode, Temperature control mode (supports Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel SS316), the Joule mode which automatically sets temperature based on the coil that you are using, and lastly the DIY mode that will allow users to control the way they want their coils to be heated.
In the DIY mode, you can set the temperature or wattage that you want to use during the pre-heat of the coil and you can manipulate how much you heat you want to have on the coils while you are holding down the firing button while you puff. For example, I had my mod initially set at 60W then I will choose the DIY mode and will set my preheat to 120W for 0.45 seconds and go down to 90W for 1 second then it goes back to my initial 60W after that. This way you can protect more of your cotton and also create different pattern in which you will get the result you wanted. I like to describe it as having the power to jump start your coil while on the variable wattage mode.
This device has a maximum output of 80W for VW and 300 degrees Celsius for TC. It can handle coil resistance ranging from 0.09 ohm – 3ohms for Variable Wattage mode and 0.03ohm – 1ohm for Temperature Control mode.
For the purpose of the test, I used my VGOD RDTA 24mm with fused Clapton wires dual coil, reading at 0.44ohms. I had the Chieftain set at 55W Variable wattage mode. Nice results, it is not stressing my coils, I think the power output is accurate and I did not get any misfires with the firing button. I tried vaping it at 80W and it held up pretty well. The mod is not heating up and was able to produce the power that I am looking for.
I am really not a fan of different modes but I do like the DIY mode of this mod. I tried it with my VGOD. I had my mod initially set at 55W. For the DIY mode, I set the pre-heat to the maximum 80W for 1 second and it should go down to my initial wattage of 55W. The result is amazing, I got more vapor and more flavor compared to when I was in Variable wattage mode. The 80W pre-heat heats up my coil just enough to get the vapor then when it got down to 55W it is all flavor. This feature is great for both cloud and flavor chasers.
