I just spent a week in Finland, and I can from that experience that the Finns are terrified of Putin. He's not some abstract cold war threat to them. He's an enemy at the gates. Several of the people I met there expressed regret that Finland didn't join NATO right after the USSR collapsed, as it might be too late now. I'm a staunch supporter of NATO, and I think it's a mistake for isolationist conservatives and liberals to question NATO's modern relevance.
