I wrote this song after a confluence of inspiration from mike's #askhubski, from the when is the best time to plant a tree? saying that b_b introduced me to and from a recent comment from WanderingEng here.

I mention in the song that I think the saddest word is "regret." -I'm not sure if this is truly what I think, it just seemed to fit the song.

What words stand out to you as particularly sad?

The song could use some bass, some organ, background vocals etc. Anyone game? ghostoffuffle, T-Dog, coffeesp00ns, BLOB_CASTLE, mk or b_b (grab a bass, ya'll can play... I've seen it) and anyone else... go to town.

Happy fathers day to ya'll.

-Steve

lil and steve -I played hockey -- my wife was kind enough to give me two uninterrupted hours for fathers day :)

Lyrics:

The best time to plant a tree

Is 20 years ago or today

So don't procrastinate

If you care about your fate

Let me tell you about

A man once fell in love and held it a secret for years

Let me tell you about

He waited till his last breath and in it there was nothing left

The best time to make amends

Is now the present tense

Don't hold off for fear of trying

There are worse fates than dying

Let me tell you about

A woman once fell in love and held it a secret for years

Let me tell you that

She waited till her last breath and in it there was nothing left

Don't let your fear hold sway

Don't let the tangled days

Don't let the one thing that burns inside you, flame out in the rear view

The saddest word, regret

user-inactivated:

Shame.

Whereas guilt says, "I'm sorry, I made a mistake," shame says, "I'm sorry, I am a mistake."
