Hey cW, AnSionnachRua, oyster, bfv bhrgunatha -That poem I posted the other day about being present and in the moment only to have my phone ring and rip it all away, is now a song. -It's not a particularly good song, but it exists and I thought I'd share it.
Original post:
lil -I played Hockey.
LYRICS:
And my eyes were closed
All day long
Hidden behind screens
I opened them to see
The earth was doing things
Wonderful things
And you were there
And I was there
And the kids were there too
For just a moment I could see you
I could see you
And then my phone rang
And it jerked my neck
And it scolded my presence
It rubbed my nose in the carpet
And I lost you all
I'm so sorry that my phone rang
My phone rang
Haha, this is amazing. Did you really do all this in two days? At any rate it's a lovely sentiment. I don't own a cell phone so I don't have this problem, but it's exactly why I don't have one. If I'm out enjoying a friend's company or having a nice drink somewhere or reading a book, I don't want to be interrupted by a call or a notification that yanks you out of the moment. But then I do often read while I'm walking and walking head-first into a lamp-post is also liable to take you out of the moment a bit.
