Snyder (1999) posited that hope theory provides a useful framework for assessing students' abilities to cope with testing circumstances. According to the tenets of hope theory, given the goals of successfully learning course material and demonstrating knowledge and understanding of that information, i.e., performing, on examinations, those students who score lower in hope also have difficulties with both goals.
