I don't have a problem with this use of "very". I think there is an emphasis that a "very" can highlight.
I felt insecure about my knowledge of diesel engines. I felt very insecure about my knowledge of the conflict in Syria.
I felt ridiculously insecure about my knowledge of what makes women happy.
I feel insecure about both. I feel less secure about the second. I feel no security at all about the third.
Basically though, I really kinda dont right so well, so yeah.
