Very disappointing to hear, but fits in with my own school experience; unfortunately I don't think things have changed over the last decade, if anything getting worse due to the rise in cyber-bullying.

It's so bad Maisie Williams (of Game of Thrones fame) starred in a pretty good short film, Cyberbully, drawing upon the experience of herself and others being bullied online. I don't think it received enough positive attention, putting it's actual audience -- the teenagers actually at risk of cyber bullying -- off of watching it.
