Sorry I have mentioned this twice before but I have had a bad fucking couple of days and am just venting.

My mother has recently gotten into the habit of saying "No, No, No" to start every sentence in reply to anything I say and it is so dismissive and annoying.

eg. She is getting ready to drive to the store and I say: "I will drive you."

Her: "No, no, no. My doctor said it is OK to drive and I can keep my licence."

Me: "He did not say that. He has no authority to say that. That is something the Department of Transportation determines. The law has determined your licence is suspended and your doctor has no authority to give you permission."

Her: "No, No, No (putting hands up now and raising voice) IT IS a medical diagnosis and he does not know why they did that."

Me: "Right nobody knows why so we just have to get that sorted out. If you drive and anything happens you will go to jail and pay thousands of dollars in fines and never get your licence back."

Her: No, No, No He said it is a medical diagnosis and he does not know why that should be the case."

Me: Mom it is a legal fact that your licence is suspended. You can not disagree with that. It is a fact. Until you again meet the requirements of the statute as determined by the DOT until then you are suspended"

Her: No, no, no my doctor said it is OK and he will take care of it."

Me: Mom the legal analysis may be based upon an medical opinion but we do not know what those future opinions and judgments will be. And until then you can not drive."

Her: No, No, No..... etc.

Me: (Theoretically) I don't give a fuck what your doctor is saying to you or if you think the issue of your new heartburn medication which you refuse to take and are therefore suffering physically. He has told me he has scheduled you for an outside competency test so he can disclaim responsibility for you losing your fucking licence and you will not hate him.

Those types of conversations happen at least once a day.

I have asked her not to say "No, No, No" as a response to almost everything I say as it feels to me that she is being dismissive and disrespectful. She is traditionally a very polite person and would never say that to anyone but me. Also very proud, intelligent and stubborn which are major issues. Never wrong. Never needs help. Never forgets anything.

Of course she does not remember anything for more than ten minutes so can't even remember my request to not dismiss me whether I say it one or 100 times but it still really annoys me.

I guess I just have to accept that she is getting nastier until she completely zones out. Ugh.
