Such a good read. Such a terrible story.

randomuser and I have been watching that terrible guilty-pleasure MTV show, Catfish as background noise the past couple days. One of the moms on the show was pretty much the most winningest mom ever. The episode revolved around a girl who met a dude online, fell in "love", wanted to meet up with him, turns out the "he" was a transgender using fake pics, all the usual. The girl was totally fine with it, besides the lying part, and she called her mother to explain.

Keep in mind, the phone conversation was like, "Hey mom, so that dude I met online Alyx is actually named Dani and is trans and started hormone therapy like..a week ago." The only thing the mom said was, "Are you okay with it? What do you think about this whole situation". When her daughter answered, "it's fine...we'll have to get through the lies and stuff but I'm fine with it", the mom said, "Well if you are okay with it then so am I."

I don't know. Support your kids. Let them make mistakes. Be there when they fall down. And you know....mostly try not to pressure them so much that they murder you in the end.

This is so much more positive than the takeaway I had reading this article: geez, I'm definitely never having kids.

This was a great read.
