I understand the position that no-one should go unpunished for being complicit in such terrible crimes; but I feel in this instance the judgement may do more harm than good, as Groening seems to have dedicated his later life to speaking up about his time serving in the Nazi regime and working to disprove holocaust deniers.

This is a strange trend, denying the holocaust happened, which keeps cropping up nowadays. It's something I find hard to wrap my brain around, perhaps because it was a significant part of the national curriculum when I went to school. Also here in the South West of the UK it's hard to go a few metres without running into somebody who either lived during that time or the immediate aftermath, or have evidence and stories of family members who were.
