When the Uber Paris attacks and strikes started happening, being in South Africa I thought nothing of it. Within a few weeks a very similar story began to appear locally. Local governments ceasing vehicles, other taxis stopping passengers from getting into Uber cars, or Uber drivers threatened. Worker Unions are now also getting involved!

Now a local startup has the idea to help the metered taxis take on the likes of the Uber drivers with their service.

It will be interesting to see how it progresses here in South Africa and, if it does well, I am sure we will see a similar rollout throughout the world. Competing with the large amounts of money that Uber has will be difficult.
