In mid June 2015 Twitter started demanding real phone number, mobile phones in order to use Twitter, many bailed.

Why now? Why had twitter been fairly anonymous then BAM, you had to have a real-id ala google over night? Why now?

Then mid to late June Reddit start's banning controversial site's for child-porn, and various other reason's, then fat people, then any controversial subject is shadow banned by removing from public locations.

By late june, many people woke up and realized there was no place to 'speak the truth' a quick search on google said "Go to VOAT", that is telling because google is CIA, and why Voat? Because its no email, and no phone required, but for how long? Eventually say now the VC money will flow to VOAT, but the mothers milk of profit is real email and a real phone number, that shit is worth 10 USD per user, maybe more, real ID on Google, or Facebook, or now Twitter is there most valuable asset. Certainly soon reddit will require real-id as well.

Mid june Voat got hit with losing its hosting in Germany, shutdown and move, late June got DOS's then shutdown over July 4, 2015 for almost 4 days to find new servers to handle all the new users.

Where now what's left?

Seem's like with Twitter they forced off the people who wanted anonymity and they went to Reddit, then a week later they forced those people off Reddit, and they went to VOAT. Now what?

Is voat a limited hangout where people can just bitch? Sure they don't have email, or real-id and phone, but they are harvesting IP's, and they can be mapped based on sentiment.

In time the new VC's who have contributed will want money, they will want blood out of their investment, and that means to KNOW & OWN the customer.
