Anyone who has played the original The Legend of Zelda knows that some enemies move with slow, plodding movements, like Octoroks, while others, like Tektites, moves spasmodically around the screen. If you're low on hearts, passing through a screen littered with these randomly zigging and zagging foes can be a harrowing experience.

But for the artists' collective at nonhuman.net, the mindless plotting of these digital creatures is a thing of beauty.

By hooking the game to an HP 7475A Pen Plotter, the movement of Leevers, Peahats, Darknuts, and more are used to draw lines based on where the enemies wander.

"The pen's position followed the XY coordinates of the enemies on-screen, plotting ink lines wherever the enemies traveled," reads the copy on the nonhumans website. The 12 drawings are available to purchase on acid-free, 8 x 11" card stock. Profits go to... the game enemies?

"You're putting money into a nest egg for them," according to nonhumans. This may help to explain how defeating enemies sometimes results in a drop of a rupee. The drawings can be purchased with bitcoin, of course, and profits will help to "incubate art careers for nonhumans" as they mindlessly toil toward the "ability to own property and currency."
