The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunken guys with baseball bats.

The problem, as I see it, with the gun debate is that it's rarely about not letting that "100 pound woman" have the right to carry a gun but it's about how that 100 pound woman has a constitutional right to carry an assault rifle, or how that "75 year old retiree" shouldn't have to have a background check or a waiting period prior to purchase or how that "single guy" should have the right to sell or traffic his gun to whom he wants any time he wants.

There are sensible people fighting for sensible legislation but huge money interests/gun lobby will not allow it..

Most rational people aren't pro/anti gun but rather pro-responsible legislation.
