that sort of hopelessness and discouragment is even worse than not funding it :'(

I am curious what exactly we can really do if we find microbes and bacteria and such on different planets. I mean, they seem quite confident there are plenty of planets out there that support life, and they're basing those odds on how similar a planet could he to Earth, meaning theyre not expecting to find a completely different biological system to study and cure the world's ailments. Obviously the guy who asked what the 'plan is' was ridiculous, but I can't help but wonder
