A western disturbance(weather system from the Mediterranean sea area) hit the western Himalayas with full force on 28th Feb evening. It snowed overnight and we had over 12 inches on the road. With no snow cutters yet, it was a perfect time to take out the 4WD and test the snow chains.

We started from Kothi, towards Rohtang Pass. There is over 40 feet of snow on the top, and road will be cleared by May, but the Border Roads organization had done one run of clearing till Gulaba(about 8-10kms from Kothi).

This highway is called the Manali Leh highway. Rohtang Pass is the first pass on this highway when going from Manali.

Done this extreme route so many times, but always in summers. I guess our luck this time to witness extreme white paradise.
