Politics is the interaction between humans. We so often associate it with governance. But everything, from homosexuality to healthcare, is an issue in governance because it's an issue in interaction—not the reverse.

As long as two or more humans are interacting, "political" issues will arise. To deny humans at the Olympics the right to participate in the decision as to what interaction is acceptable is to deny their humanity. To say "You're here for sports, not politics" is to say "you're here as a machine, not a human."

Nor will they be denied. People who presuppose the present politics are peremptory will protest, and pass on participation. To condemn them for this is to condemn their humanity.
